Pro Staff: Monster Mule Deer Video
Hey all,
It’s Wesley here again. In this video you’ll get to see a nice mature mule deer rutting and chasing some does around. I was on my way back to school from my parents house when I spotted this monster and his two does in a field, so I pulled over and filmed this big boy doing what he does best.
I hope you all enjoy the video and look back again soon for my next outdoor adventure. —Wesley

Hey Wes—
Nice work. . . That is a VERY nice buck. One I’m sure many, many hunters wish they could set their sights on. . . Thanks for sharing!
How did your season go? Find anything like the big boy in the video?
January 5th, 2009 at 12:02 pmThat is one great looking buck. Hopefully one of those will come my way one day.
January 5th, 2009 at 2:47 pmi agree that is a good buck but i’m not sure the “monster” label applies. good job on the video. last season i watched a field with both whitetails and mule deer during the rut. there were several decent mule deer bucks running does and a GOOD whitetail buck chasing does. whenever the paths crossed between the mulie bucks and the whitetail, the mulies yielded to him every time.

January 5th, 2009 at 6:18 pmAwesome buck. Very cool video too. It is someplace you can hunt?
January 6th, 2009 at 9:19 amYa he was a very nice buck, I showed him to my friend who is a certified Boon and Crocket scorer and he estimated the buck to be about 4 years old and his score to be in the low to mid 190’s, so give him two more years and he will be over 200″. As far as a place I could im not sure one that where i filmed it was about 120 miles away from my house. I used to live in the area where i filmed him when i was younger so I have an idea who’s land he was on but im not sure. I could probably find out who owns it and ask them, but i already have a much larger deer lined up for next year. My Grandparents own like 5,000 acres off land with a creek running through it and I hunted antelope on it this year. I saw several bucks of his size and one absolute monster! We got the big boy on film during an antelope hunt and my friend estimated him to be like 210″ plus and he is typical too. So thats the deer im planning on going after next year if i draw a tag anyway.
January 6th, 2009 at 5:21 pmAlso Ben, my season went pretty well I had an eastern CO archery tag so that made it kinda tough cuz there isnt much cover at all to stock up on deer. I had a buck about his size spotted early before my season opened but once the season opened I never saw him again, I think he just stayed in the uncut corn circles and pretty much went nocturnal. I saw several really young small whitetail bucks and some does that i stocked up on and could have shot but I passed on them hoping I would get a shot at the one I saw earlier. So since he never showed I didnt fill my tag but I still had a lot of fun getting out there and hunting. I would still consider my season succesful because i saw a lot of animals and had a great time getting out in the field.
January 6th, 2009 at 5:30 pmit amazing how clse they were to the road and they didnt even spook where i live the deer are already running when you spot them from the road
