Meet the New Pro Staff: Brooke Kennedy
This week, we’re finally introducing the new Generation Wild Pro Staff. (Sorry for the long wait, but we had a TON of great entries to get through this year.) Check back every day for the rest of the week (Tuesday-Friday) to meet a new member of the staff each day. Yesterday we featured Thomas Ladson. Today, we’d like you to meet…
Brooke Kennedy
My name is Brooke. I’m 15 years old and live in Thurmont, Maryland. My obsession with the outdoors began the day I was born—my parents named me after the famous “brook” trout. As far back as I can remember I have been exposed to the outdoors. When I was little, I was my father’s shadow, constantly wanting to know everything about hunting and fishing. And what do you know…I’m still hooked. I am an avid hunter and angler. Being located where I am today gives me a world of opportunity. Living in Maryland, I am very close to the Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac River. Fishing is very well a part of my everyday life whether I see someone else taking part in the sport or I’m doing it myself.
During the summer, I volunteered at the Maryland Department of Natural Recourses “Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs Camp.” This program gives kids in our area an opportunity to see what being an ethical angler is about. I enjoyed helping out at this camp, teaching kids the basics of fishing and how to be safe around the water. My favorite thing do outdoors is to hunt. I enjoy hunting during the winter months on a family owned farm. I began hunting for squirrels and white-tailed deer at the age of 9. I know from experience that hunting takes tons of patience but it does pay off.

Congrats, Brooke.
